He completed his Bachelors in Divinity from the Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, Kottayam in 1998. Achen went on to take a Masters and Doctorate in Theology from FRRC, Kottayam. Achen had a concentration in Counseling. He had taught at the Kottayam Seminary for 3 years, some of our member Achens had him as a professor. He served as faculty at the TMA Institute of Counselling in Kottayam most recently for 3 years and also as faculty at the Federated Faculty for Research in Religion and Culture, Kottayam. Our assistant Vicar Blezin Achen was also a student of Abraham Achen. Abraham Achen served as a teacher, research guide, and counselor. We are grateful to have an educator and counselor in our midst. Achen has traveled much when he served the Parishes of the Northeastern states by the Bangladesh/Bhutan Border of India for 2 years. He served parishes in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.

Some of these areas are affected by terrorism and require caution when traveling. Some of Achen’s previous parishes/postings were Salem Mar Thoma Church Chachipunna, Poomkulanji St. Pauls, Salem Mar Thoma School, and Thevalakkara Mar Thoma Valiyapally. Achen has published articles in peer review journals and chapters for books on Pastoral Counseling and Research.

Achen is blessed to have Blessy Kochamma by his side in this ministry. Kochamma had recently worked for the Department of Agriculture in Kerala and has done studies in this area. Kochamma had started working when Achen began going for his higher studies. Achen and Kochamma are blessed with two children. Divya Ann Abraham, their daughter has completed her plus two and is looking to continue her studies. Achen’s son Mathew C. Abraham is entering into eighth grade and has an interest in cars and exercise.
