Born and brought up in a Pentecostal Keralite family, Pastor Abey Joseph (Sabu) accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1978, and took water baptism in 1983. He migrated to the United States in 1984, and completed his high school education in New Jersey in 1987, during which time he received a calling to do ministry. Between 1987 and 1991, he attended Lee University, in Cleveland, TN and completed his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Christian Education. He attended the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, TN from 1991 to 1993 and earned his Master of Arts (MA) degree in Pastoral Counseling. During his studies in TN he attended Chattanooga Christian Assembly (CCA). In 1993, Abey received the baptism of the Holy Spirit manifested through speaking in other tongues.

Between 1993 and 2007, Abey Joseph attended Bronx Full Gospel Assembly in Bronx, NY and served as the Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Director, and Youth and Assistant Pastor. He also served in 1996 as the President of the Pentecostal Youth Fellowship of America, NY (PYFA). In 2002, he was ordained for ministry by Pastor K. K. Joseph, President of Pentecostal Maranatha Gospel Church, India at Bronx Full Gospel Assembly, NY. Pastor Abey also led NJ Prayer Fellowship, an inter-denominational gathering in Edison, NJ from 2005 to 2007.

Pastor Abey and his wife, Sherley, have been married for 22 years and are blessed with their sons Jason, Jonathan and Jeremy. They have been attending CCA since 2007, and at the request of the Board of Directors of CCA, Pastor Abey took on the Pastoral responsibilities in 2016.
