Revd. Viji Varghese Eapen, arrived in Dublin on 29 September 2018, to pursue his PhD in Theology in the School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music in Dublin City University, Dublin. He is authorised by the Bishop of CSI Diocese of Madhya Kerala, and is permitted to officiate by the Archbishop of the United Diocese of Dublin and Glendalough, Church of Ireland.
Ordained as a Deacon in 2004 and as a Presbyter in 2005, Viji has served in Njaliakuzhy, Chennai, Kumplampoika (interim) and Karikkattor Parishes. As a missionary, he has served in the CSI Parkal Mission, Telengana. He has also served in the Church of South India Synod Secretariat as the Director of the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Ecological Concerns, and the Director-in-Charge of the Department of Communications. When the CSI Diocese of Madhya Kerala celebrated 200 years of the arrival of CMS Missionaries, he was appointed as the Project and Programme Promotion-in-Charge. Later, he also served as the Director of Ecumenical Relations and Office Correspondence in the Bishop’s Office, Diocese of Madhya Kerala. For a brief period, he served as the visiting faculty in the United Theological College, Bangalore, teaching worship and liturgy.
Viji did his Bachelor of Arts (English Language and Literature) in Fatima Mata National College, Kollam (University of Kerala), Bachelor of Divinity in the United Theological College, Bangalore (Serampore University) and Master of Theology in the Federated Faculty for Research in Religion and Culture, Kottayam (Serampore University). He has edited several books and authored several articles.
