In June of 1985, a Malayalam service of the Holy Qurbana was conducted at United Methodist Church in Congers, NY. It was considered the first Malayalee Christian congregation in Rockland County. With goals of fostering the Orthodox faith, the group moved that following September to Christ Church in Sparkill, NY. St. Peter’s & St. Paul’s Malankara Orthodox Church was officially inaugurated on November 3, 1985.

The beautiful stone building of Christ Church was home to St. Peter's and St. Paul's for almost 30 years.

Since then, the institution has strived to be a beacon of spiritual guidance for second-generation Malayalee American youth to help them traverse the dynamic subculture shaped by the confluence of strong American, Indian, and Malayalee identities. On January 26, 2014, the congregation moved to its own building at 422 Western Highway, Tappan NY - a mile north of Sparkill. It continues to be a stronghold in the Indian Orthodox community with its faith, leadership, and service.
