It was the abundant blessings and mercy of our Almighty Lord, Salem Mar Thoma Church, Eastern Long Island was originated in the year 2003. It started as a small prayer group in the Eastern Long Island within the Suffolk and Nassau counties of New York state. It was through the great efforts of Mr. Abraham C. Thadathel and many others in this area that has made this parish a reality today.

This prayer group formed an interim-committee on October 18, 2003 and authorized the committee to submit a formal application to the diocesan bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa to form a parish. Followed by the recommendation of the diocesan bishop our parish was approved by the Episcopal synod effective July 1st, 2004 and Rev. Dr. Koshy Mathew was appointed as our vicar.

Our first worship service was conducted on July 11th, 2004 at 75 Caleb’s Path, Central Islip, New York and this has been the center of our parish until February 2010. Now we are located at 45 North Service Road, Dix Hills, New York.

Our parish began with 48 families and today by the grace of God we have 85 families.

Since the formation of our parish, we were privileged to have esteem vicars in our parish. Our first vicar Rev. Dr. Koshy Mathew and family served this parish from 2004 to 2006, followed by Rev. Jobi Varghese and family from 2006 to 2009 , followed by Rev. Varghese Mathai and family from 2009 to 2012, followed by Rev. Mathew George and family from 2012 to 2015, followed by Rev. Jacob John V. and family from 2015 to 2018. At present we are blessed with Rev. Jose K.I and family since May of 2018.
