St. Mary's Knanaya Catholic Parish of Chicago commits to serve the pastoral needs of the Knanaya Catholics in the state of Illinois, having domicile on the Northside of the Expressway 90 and those having domicile in the state of Wisconsin, in communion with the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago and the Archeparchy of Kottayam, especially by providing liturgical services in the Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara Rites, offering Religious Education and spiritual formation, organizing pious associations, Ministries for all ages, koodara yogams, promoting Knanaya traditions, and developing a spirit of Christian love.

The Knanaya Catholics living in the northern part of Chicago desired to buy a church facility in that area because a major part of the Knanaya people in Chicago are living in this area. The search for the second church facility in Chicago was realized by buying a Jewsih Synagogue in Morton Grove on January 14, 2010. Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath, along with His Grace Mar Mathew Moolakkatt and Mar Joseph Pandarasseril consecrated this church and established it as a parish on July 18, 2010. This synagogue was then remodeled according to the Syro-Malabar tradition of the Catholic Church.

This is the second parish church established for Knanaya Catholics in Chicago. This church is part of Knanaya Region and Chicago Sacred Heart Forane under the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago. This parish serves around 750 families.
