Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Parish is the first parish church established for Knanaya Catholics outside the proper territory of the Archeparchy of Kottayam, India and the first parish church of the Knanaya Catholic Region. This church was established on September 1, 2006 under the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago. The church was elevated as a forane church by Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath on March 22, 2015.

Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Parish of Chicago commits to serve the pastoral needs of the Knanaya Catholics in the state of Illinois, having domicile on the Southside of the Expressway 90 and those having domicile in the state of Indiana, in communion with the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago and the Archeparchy of Kottayam, especially by providing liturgical services in the Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara Rites, offering Religious Education and spiritual formation, organizing pious associations, Ministries for all ages, koodara yogams (tent gatherings), promoting Knanaya traditions, and developing a spirit of Christian love.
