The Christian from the North of Coimbatore city were attending worship at CSI Christ Church, Trichy Road, when the numbers grew the church felt and need to begin worship at Gandhipuram. The elders of the church with a lot of prayers purchased a plot of 37 ¾ cents of land at 9th street, Gandhipuram during the year 1956. Funds were raised for building a church. In 1960 Rt. Rev S J Samuel the then Bishop laid the foundation for the church building and the construction was completed and the same Bishop dedicated the church on 26th January 1963, ever since it was under the guidance of CSI Christ Church, Trichy road and 1970 CSI Christ Church, Gandhipuram was declared as an independent church.

The congregation grew and there was a over whelming crowd, so again there was a need to build a new church. With the cooperation of the congregation the existing new church was built and dedicated by Rt. Rev. M. Durai on 15th August 2002
