Mar Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church , Valsad

In June 1970, Rev. Fr. K. T. Thomas (H. G. Thomas Mar Athanasius Metropolitan) conducted the first Holy communion at CNI Church Valsad with the permission of Metropolitan of Outside Kerala Diocese. This worship was continued up to 1978 with the generous support of the CNI church. The venue of worship was then shifted from CNI church to a hall of Bethel Home. As a result of the hard work and inspiration by Rev. Fr. P. A. Mathew, the congregation was declared as a Parish named as MAR GREGORIOUS ORTHODOX CHURCH, by H. G. Dr. Philipose Mar Theophilos and appointed Rev. Fr. P. M. Mathew as the first parish Vicar. There were 22 Members during this period and the membership increased to 42, due to the dedicated service by the Vicar. In the year 1998, they purchased a land for church, measuring about half an acre, at Vejalpore, Valsad. The foundation stone for the church was laid by Rev. Fr. Simon Varghese in the year 1999. The church building construction completed with the financial aid of MOCCB in the year 2001. The church was Consecrated by H. G. Geevarghese Mar Coorilos Metropolitan of Bombay Diocese on 8th of October 2001. Rev. Fr. John Mathew is the Vicar of this Parish.
