A small group of marthomites around 30 in number moved out from Kerala in search of better avenues, formed a congregation on Oct. 6th 1968. This was the origin of Faridabad Mar Thoma Church. From this small beginning the church has grown manifold during these years only because of the grace of Lord Almighty.

The first worship was held on 13th Oct. 1968 at the Baptist Church.

Rev. P.V. Thomas, Vicar of Delhi Mar Thoma Church, conducted this service. Thereafter every Sunday the congregation met to worship God and on 2nd and 3rd Sundays the vicars from Delhi and Rev. N.K. Drew (vicar of Baptist Church) gave necessary leadership. Within two years the membership grew to150 and a bigger place for worshipping was required. The Shanti Niwas CNI church committee was helpful enough to grant us permission to conduct the services from December 1970.

By 1976 the membership grew up to 250 and the need for a full time Vicar was felt. When this was placed before the metropolitan, the request was granted and Rev. A.M. John became the first full time vicar to lead Faridabad Mar Thoma Church. But he had to conduct service at two other places being based at Faridabad. With a full time Vicar, the next need was for a Parish and parsonage of our own. So in 1978, The Faridabad Mar Thoma Society was formed and a plot of land was purchased in 1979. (Sector-9, Plot No. 240) During these times various affiliated groups of the Church like Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam (January 1970), Sevika Sangham (February 1982) the Sunday School for Children (August 1978) were started and these added to the growth of the Church. In 1987 our membership grew up to 400.

The construction work for a parish and parsonage was started, and in 1983 construction of the first phase, namely a parsonage was completed and blessed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Ireneus Episcopa. A small Church building was dedicated for the glory of God by Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasius on November 7th 1992.

The year 1992, also saw the inauguration of the silver Jubilee Year. This was on 8th November, by Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Irenaeus Episcopa and Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasius. Several activities were planned like - construction of a house at leper colony. Aid to six students for studies, starting of Gurgaon Mar Thoma congregation etc. In 1993 a souvenir too was released to commemorate this occasion.
During these years the steady increase in memberships have forced us to think on renovating and enhancing the size of the worship place so that comfortable seating arrangements could be made for all. The decision to renovate kept lingering as this required huge finances. However in the year January 2000 the decision was taken to renovate the parish by building a parish hall on the first floor and the parsonage on the second floor and to use the entire ground floor as the worship place. The parsonage was dedicated on 5th May 2001 by Rt. Rev. Dr. Issac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa. The work of parish hall & worship place could be completed on 1st Nov. 2001 and would be dedicated by Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Basnabas Episcopa. All this could be made possible only with grace of the Almighty God and the efforts of all the parish members.
To look after the various functions and activities of the church we have an Executive committee and a General body-both chaired by the Vicar. Worship Services are held on every Sunday which are attended by an average of 300 worshippers. English Service is held on 4th Sunday specially looking into the needs of the youth-Special services are arranged during the passion week and Christmas time. Cottage prayer meetings are held on a sector-wise basis at the residence o( parish members. These prayer meetings being localized really help the members to grow spiritually and enhance our Christian fellowship. As we look back we can only say Jehovah Jireh - God is my Provider. And as we look ahead let us have a heart to be move closer to God to fulfill His purposes through us, Let us be thankful to God for enabling us to perform such great things in the past with our limited resources and pray for better fellowship among us.
