In the year 1979 Andhra Pradesh Special Police 5th Battalion was started in Chintalavalasa. The Catholic employees from different district settled here. For their spiritual needs a community of faithful was started. In the year 1986 about 100 faithful were baptized. In 1985 Rev. Fr. Paul Iramana, the then Parish Priest of Vizianagaram bought a piece of land in front of the Battalion gate. Church was built on 23 March, 1987 and blessed by Most Rev. Kakithapu Mariadas DD, the then Bishop of Visakhapatnam. Chintalavalasa parish was bifurcated from Vizianagaram parish on 6th July 2015 by Most Rev. Prakash Mallavarapu DD, Archbishop of Visakhapatnam.
