SILVASA St. Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church Silvassa is situated at Silvassa Town, the capital of U. T of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, which is 15km away from NH8 and nearest Railway Station is Vapi (W. R.) of Mumbai- Ahmedabad route. The foundation stone of this church was laid on 27th January 2003 by H. G. Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, Metropolitan of Mumbai Diocese, in the presence of Fr. Dr. M. S. John, then Vicar of our parish. The Church was Consecrated on 4th November 2005, by H. H Baselios Marthoma Didimos I, Catholicose of the East assisted by H. G. Thomas Mar Athanasios, Metropolitan of Chengannur Diocese and H. G. Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, Mumbai Diocesean Metropolitan. In 1995 it was started as a prayer group and then as a Congregation of Orthodox Church faithful. Many Priests served this church during those days. During the Vicarship of Rev. Dr. M. S John (Fr. Dr. Yuhannon Ramban), the construction of this church started and completed. This is the only Orthodox Church of this U. T. We have holy Qurbana on all Sundays. Sunday School Classes on all Sundays, MGOCSM, OCYM, MMVS and AMOS units are also functioning. The church has its own Cemetery in Silvassa. Since 1995, Rev. Fr. Yesudasan P., Rev. Fr. Jose Issac, Rev. Fr. Simon Varghese, Rev. Fr. M.S. John (Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Yuhanon Ramban) , Rev. Fr. Manu Varghese, Rev. Fr. K.P. Varghese, Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Abraham, Rev. Fr. B.M. Thomas and Rev. Fr. Sajeev Varghese served the church. Rev. Fr. Sam Oommen is the present Vicar. In July 2014, one of the parish member purchased and gave a 2BHK flat near the church for the parsonage and from that time onwards we have full time priest for the church. Relics of St. Gregorios is erected in the church during 10th anniversary in 2015 and every Friday we have intercession prayers.
