When most Rev. Dr. K. Mariadas DD JUD became the Bishop of the Diocese, he took special care on Makkuva Mission and star ted developing it. A new Church at Kannampetta in 1991, RCC roofing of the Churchs at Mettavalasa and Mavudi, sanctioning more catechists were some of them. As a culmination foundation stone for the Parish Church was blessed by his Lordship on the 12th of May 1996. After 75 years of long history of Makkuva Mission, a parish Church under the patronage of Our Lady of Fathima was constructed and blessed on 23.3.1999 near the main road in the new site acquired for the purpose. Subsequently a new presbytery also was constructed near the church premises.
